So, today’s installment of Two Weeks Of is another part of the albums Sunday’s best. Here’s the second song: “I Forget You”
Keep it strong
Just like previously, Two Weeks of Bago this time. I wonder how I’m going to do this with most of her music being on SC. But we’re going to start with a video for “Bath Salts” the first song from the album Sunday’s Best.
We’re going to listen to the entire album of “Sunday’s Best” and maybe some more. Let’s have a good ride folks.
A few weeks ago, 13 was posting on FB about his list of Favorite Movies and suggested that I do the same. Said he was interested. Well, I thought long and hard about the best way to do it, I decided on just doing it over the course of a few weeks and I’m going to do it here. My top movies are like water molecules, once they get in the group, it is hard to tell which on is where. But we’re going to start with on that is most definitely in my top 5. August Rush
I started with August Rush because it isn’t the best movie for everyone. It’s a really sappy movie that really forces people to suspend their disbelief and just accept some things. But, the musical score is excellent and the movie is about a boy discovering his lineage and drawing his family together while bringing his family together.

Now, you can watch this movie for free by searching for it on google (It’s not on Netflix) or you can pay $2.99 to rent it from Youtube. (Although the full movie is *probably* free on there too.)

But, be careful w/ your comps folks.
(Side note: I’ve already written like 4 months of these so you don’t have to worry about them not showing up for a while.)
So, before we get started, I’m going to apologize for two things. First off, I’m gonna apologize for taking over a week to type this out. But, you guys know me, that’s actually pretty fast for me. Secondly, I’m going to apologize for taking these photos with my phone which sucks ass at taking low light pictures better than Riku Minato in the middle of a 8 man gang bang. But, now that that is out of the way, let me tell you about the greatness that is this show I went to last Saturday.
I got a message on Twitter (yes, you can send me one. I tend to respond) that they were playing a show in Dallas at Three Links that weekend. So, I decided to head out there to check it out. Went into the venue and was pretty stoked. Venue was nice girl at the front, (didn’t get her name) was chill and personable unlike some people I’ve seen before. Which was nice. Peter got a drink that was reasonably price for the location so that was pretty sweet too. Got in there early and saw the first show, Chinaski, The Fury. That dude went out there by himself. He was great for a solo act. He had to use a loop and he admittedly play some songs that sounded like he made them up earlier that day, (Which he said he did, actually.) but the set was enjoyable to say the least.
Then, various things happened so I didn’t get to see Trails come in but when I got back in there they were about to start their first song. We pushed through the crowd and made our way off to the side where there weren’t that many people and we could post up on the wall. (Yes, I understand that makes for bad positioning. But, I wanted it to be a good for as many people as possible. I’m not a small guy.) And, I think that’s where my heart jumped to eleven. Trails was great. Emma told a funny story about a guy buying them drinks and Keith did most of the talking. it was a really personable group. They seemed really down to the earth and trying keep the crowd jamming. (It wasn’t needed though, the crowd was rocking hard with them.) Peter remarked that Ian was good then noted what a huge difference that drums make on a group. Then they told us they were going to play Mtn Tune. And I fell in love.
Now, I’m no expert on love. But I’m pretty sure that that is what I fell to when Hannah brought the magic out of that guitar. Emma was killing the bass line and Keith kept the line strong while Ian was beating those drums like he was trying to find oil in those hills. All the while, Hannah was making the guitar sing its own “Mtn Tune”. I had never heard this tune before and it was quenching a thirst I didn’t even know I had. I’d throw the link down at the bottom, but listening to it on your computer doesn’t even compare to hearing it live. It was phenomenal. The set was really short but it was totally enjoyable. You guys have to see them before you die. These guys are going to get big. If they don’t. It’ll be a damn shame and a crime against music.
I bought their CD (which is more like an EP, I wasn’t really listening to them describe it because I was still falling in love with Hannah) for 5 dollars and got to talk to Keith. He’s really down to earth and I told him how great was for me. Didn’t get a real chance to talk to Hannah, (which is good because I didn’t think I would have been able to form complete sentences and would have tripped on my words.) I’ll recommend these guys to anyone anytime.
Just Great.
(Side note: If Hannah ever reads this, I’d love to take you out for some lunch next time you’re in town. Everyone has to eat sometime right?)
I’ve got something a bit more relaxing to chill to today. My first taste of some real lounge music ear candy for the 2014 summer season. Although this song came out over a year ago I still think many of you haven’t heard this yet. My first foray into the world of Bago was her song “Devil Inside” on a Hattie Wilson BTS video that came out a few weeks ago on vimeo (not showing that because of “reasons”). She’s got a real sweet voice. I like to think her voice is a mix between Badu and LDR with sick beats that rival any of the great R&B songs of our era.
Today’s Track, “I Forget You” starts off like a horror story would with the soft laugh and then pounces on you like a jump scare with a beat that won’t let you go. Her words flow into the chorus and they take you for a ride and don’t let you go till it sequences into the next track.
It’s a true Head-Swayer. Here you go: “I Forget You” by Bago
Party hard My Friends,
You know that feeling of level-headedness that you get when you’re around someone that you really care about? That whole just being near that person makes you calmer and and content? Where you don’t really need anything except from them except their presence?
This isn’t that type of love.
This is the “crazy” “what are we doing here” “grab my hands as we run through the street laughing like crazy people” love. One of those that makes the people around you ask “What the hell are they on?”. This is “singing to your love in the middle of the day for no reason” love. It’s young love and old love brought together into one really nice song. This short banger with a bass heavy chorus goes perfectly with the lyrics.
Here’s “Not on Drugs” by Tove Lo:
A character substitution turns, Tove lo into “Love to” and her new EP Truth Serum is out on Itunes and Spotify now. And, you’d “Love to” listen to the rest of it. Trust me.

Ladies,
I’m here once again to pour some sweet music into you ears. This afternoon, we’re here to remind you about about the fact that there are many other fish in the sea.
No, not really. While I’m quite sure there are really tons of fish in the sea, the likelihood that you’ll find one with the perfect cogs for your machine is slim. Actually, given that there are like 7 and a half billion people in this world, there’s probably a greater chance that you’ll find someone who is much more perfect for you elsewhere than in your current living location. But, that’s not the point. The point is that I needed a way to ease into this amazing remix.

Oh yeah, side note: Did any of you notice how really close 13 was with his predictions? Fucking beastly.
And, I realized that I typoed, but I’m leaving it for the future. I am human.
Ok folks, I’ve got something relatively new for you guys. Here’s something new from my current artist obsession. Spark Master Tape: Proprecia. It’s a banger, great for bumping loud in the headphones or car. One of the reasons that I love listening to most of Spark’s music is that it reminds me of old rap. It’s loud and it just rolls in the ride. It’s great music. But, you don’t have to take my word for it:
Play it loud,
Hey, guys. I’m feeling a bit money hungry today. So, I felt that this would be a great song for today. It’s my soundtrack for this evening. This is the first song that I actually remember buying the CD for.
Real talk, I took this album to a party in my CD player, (I did awkward shit like take my own music to house parties just in case I didn’t like the music they were playing. I guess I’ve always had a knack for this.) And, It got jacked from me. That was a sad day. Fuck whoever did that. I’m still holding a grudge.
Bump it with me.
Back when things were simple. Swishahouse was my first group that I really enjoyed.
“Been acting like this since last week.”
Hey folks,
It’s that time of year again. The time when I take all the music that I listened to in the past year and present to you my list of the best. I know I haven’t updated in a VERY long time, and honestly, I don’t think that’s going to change. Whereas XIV still updates when he can, I have found that maintaining the blog regularly is just not something I can make work for myself. So from here on out, this will primarily be XIV’s blog. That said, I may pop up from time to time, especially when I post my yearly top ten lists, which I intend to continue making for the foreseeable future.
This year, in addition to a music list, there will also be a movie list. I published the first of my movie lists last year after watching 44 films but did not publish it to this website because at the time we were still strictly covering music here. Since we have now expanded the format to different forms of entertainment, I am happy to present them both here. I went all out this year, watching and considering 60 films before whittling the list down to 10. So that’s something else to look forward to!
I really do appreciate everyone who follows the blog and I thank you for hanging with us even when we weren’t consistent.
The 8th annual edition of “The List” will be heading your way starting tomorrow. Like last year, it will be released in four separate entries, beginning with #10 and counting down to #1. See you back here then!
