Blizzard’s New Franchise: Overwatch

What’s that? I haven’t updated in forever? Yes, I know. I’d make excuses, but that would waste all of our time. So, let’s dig into the new feast I brought us.

If you know me, you probably know that I play WoW. Like, it could totally have been my part time job for a while there. I love Blizzard Games. Been playing them for a while, and since I’m more of a laid back style of playing, there isn’t much that they could do to upset me while I’m apparently throwing my money at them. So, today, for the first time in what seems like forever, they have announced a new IP at Blizzcon.

Overwatch.

From the trailer, which I’ll add to this later, it seems like a cross between TF2 and some of the other Blizzard games. There’s a zany cast of characters and like everything Blizzard does, an air of overpoweredness.

I’ll add more posts giving more info after I get back from work. But, until then, I might update with a few things from mobile. So, if the next posts I pop up look different, that’s because I was trying to send them from my phone and they will probably suck. But, Blizzcon is like a holiday for me.

Ai Tenchi Muyo! Ep. 4 – Anime Review

Bodyguard Tenchi ©Crunchyroll

I had hopes that after yesterday’s nice showing of plot and lack of pointless Tenchi oppression, today’s episode would continue down the line of greatness that it could be.

I was wrong. But, that’s okay. This episode wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It was a step down from yesterday to be sure, but not completely as bad as episode 2. And, I’ll explain why after the jump.

Ai Tenchi Muyo! Ep. 2 -Anime Review

If this is gonna happen like I think it will, I may very well get tired of writing every damn day about this. But, since I either can’t find a real schedule for this show and it feels like it is going to be coming on every day at least during the week for the 50 episodes, (which would make sense for a season long anime. 5x5min episodes would be about one ~25 minute episode a week or 10 for a season) I very well might be doing this every day for a while. In which case, I’m gonna be hard pressed for new images. Haha, that’s rich. I’ll just probably swap to using images from the show exclusively eventually. But, you came here for a review. Let’s dig in.

I bet you thought that I was only going to be doing show reviews. Nah. I haven’t forgotten you and my bag is packed full of new music as well.

Some of you don’t know who 20syl is. And you were okay with that. That was wrong of you and your life is much less fufilled than it can be. French, with sass and a great electronic soul. 20syl has been blazing up my playlists for a few months now. You know the rules, I’m not just gonna prattle about music. Music speaks for itself, and 20syl almost soulful tracks can speak for both of us.

Just taste it a bit.

Here’s 20syl’s Motifs -EP:

That should be good for your heart.

Inou-Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de – Anime Review

Is this a comedy?

Is this a comedy?

Oh my god, it appears as though I’m actually going to have to do my job this time? Who knows, but while I’m steady working behind the scenes on a few surprises, I’m going to be doing a few reviews of some anime that are coming out this fall. I think I’m going to try to do 3-4 anime series and a few live action series as well. Because after reading my ‘How to get away with murder review” I should completely apologize for that terrible reality. But back to this one. The title is Inou-Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de or When Supernatural Battles Become Commonplace. I hate the english title so we’re going to call it Inou-Battle. Cool? Cool.

Inou-Battle is an anime about a Literature Club in High School that gains powers one day. It’s made by TRIGGER and based off a light novel series by the same name. Jurai, Tomoyo, Hatoko, Sayumi, and Chifuyu manifest a wide variety of powers from useless, Jurai’s “Dark Dark”, to completely overpowered, Hatoko’s “Over Element” and Chifuyu’s “World Create”.

This episode works pretty well as a exposition piece. Introduces all of the main protagonists and gives them an actual plot while properly introducing their abilities. But then again, TRIGGER always excels in that regard. The comedy is all there and I actually laughed out loud near the end. The art was great and the action scenes didn’t have the painful stretched out look that too many anime have these days.

I hear you have cookies...

I hear you have cookies…

Inou-Battle might actually stand out above the rest of the group of anime this season. Well, I won’t know till I finish the rest of the shows for this week.

Ai Tenchi Muyo! -Anime Review

(c) Adala News

(c) Adala News

I’m getting the feeling that I’m going to be upset quite a bit for the next few weeks. And the main problem is that I don’t know if it is going to be entirely my fault for my aggression. Probably going to blame someone else for making me do all these new reviews.

If anyone asked me what my favorite anime is, 9 times out of 10 I’d say, Tenchi Muyo. because that was my first anime love. Funny Characters, a real blast and an actual story line that as far as I’m concerned was great with balancing a hero and an open harem ending. The series as a whole was good for that. But, now there is a new one to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original. And, I am not impressed.

Let’s take the premise of the new show, Ai Tenchi Muyo: Tenchi is working in an all girls school. That’s it. That’s the entire plot for the first episode. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the episodes are only 5 minutes long. That’s going to be a problem until there are enough of them to make a coherent story out of.

But honestly, my main problem, not including the total lack of any real names for characters or actual exposition of this story, is that we spent ~40 of the 240 seconds of actual animation in this first episode staring at panties. The same pair of panties. Now, don’t get me wrong. I love a good ecchi series; of which Tenchi has always been. But that is terrible for a series that’s gonna be 50 five minute episodes.

It might possible be a long as Fall.

It might possibly be a long ass Fall.

But, we’ll try to keep an optimistic outlook at this time.

Laters,
